Soccer statistic Cants tight end Darren Waller announces retirement

Blog of soccer stats

31-year-old New York Cants tight end Darren Waller is done with professional football.

Waller first mentioned the possibility of retiring this offseason in an interview with The Athletic in March.

Among the reasons for this decision, the tight end identified a loss of motivation and health problems.

Early in his professional career, Waller struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, which he had developed since his teens.

Waller was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 6th round of the 2015 draft. In the first two seasons, he received only 12 passes, and was suspended for the entire 2017 season due to the use of prohibited substances. After this, Baltimore expelled the player.

Waller bounced back with the Oakland Raiders, posting two straight 1, 000-yard receiving seasons.

The tight end has missed 19 games advised by soccer predictions over the past three seasons due to injury.
